Engagement with Honorable Members of Parliament

Parliamentarians with research and periodic convenings on pertinent topics. Primarily, the following are the buckets under which Swaniti supports the Hon’ble Parliamentarians:

  • Research
  • Expert briefings
  • Sectoral Policy Insights
  • Legislative Support

The team provides customised research to Hon’ble Members of Parliament (MPs) based on their requirements. These may be on topics pertaining to policy issues, world affairs, Government schemes, and legislative interventions, among others.

Further, Swaniti also provides secretariat support to independent issue-based groups of Hon’ble Parliamentarians, which are The Parliamentarians’ Group for Children (PGC) and The Parliamentarians’ Group for Clean Air (PGCA). The core pillars of such support are; research, convenings, and facilitating the exchange of best practices. These independent groups of Hon’ble Members of Parliament (MPs) convene at frequent intervals to reflect upon related policy issues.

Parliamentarians’ Group for Clean Air (PGCA)

Swaniti Initiative also serves as the Secretariat for the PGCA. This group is a non-partisan and self-governed collective of Hon’ble Members of Parliament to deliberate, promote actions and facilitate knowledge exchanges amongst the concerned stakeholders to tackle the issue of Air pollution in the country. The broader outline of the groups’ pursuits is

  • Strengthen policies and budget allocation for Climate Action.
  • Endorse results-based evaluation of ongoing programs and policies.
  • Actively pursue associated emerging areas.
  • Initiate discussions on issues related to Air pollution inside and outside the Parliament and other appropriate platforms.
Parliamentarians’ Group for Children (PGC)

The group was constituted in the year 2013 to drive the issues related to child rights. Swaniti serves as the Secretariat to the PGC and has supported the forum in expanding its policy engagement to specific subjects. We constantly endeavour to support the PGC and all Parliamentarians to:

  • Endeavor for favorable policies and budget allocation for child rights
  • Demand for results-based evaluation of ongoing Child welfare schemes
  • Initiate deliberation on Child-centric issues in the Parliament
  • Create a platform for the involvement of Children in the consultative process
