Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan
1.7 million children were out-of-school in India in 2010. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan aims to provide education to all children in the age group of 6-14. The Programme is an effort to universalize elementary education by promoting community–ownership of the school system. It aims to provide a school within 1 km of every habitation and a teacher for every 40 pupils.
