National Urban Health Mission (NUHM)

NUHM was launched on 20th January, 2014 in all cities/towns with a population of more than 50,000 to tackle the problem of deteriorating urban health, with a especial focus on the urban poor and disadvantaged communities. NUHM aims to facilitate equitable access to quality health care through a revamped public health system, partnerships (public-public & public-private) and community based mechanism. NUHM aims to reduce infant and maternal mortality rate, reach 100% institutional delivery rates and achieve all targets of disease control programmes (such as National Iodine Deficiency, Vector Borne Diseases etc.)
