National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM)

The agricultural work force participation in India is 43% (males), which often comprises of the un-skilled workers and also hides the problem of disguised employment. The creation of sustainable livelihoods and increasing income levels is a pressing need in rural India. The National Rural Livelihoods Mission targets to cover 7 Crore rural poor households, across 600 districts, 6000 blocks, 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats and 6 lakh villages in the country through self-managed Self Help Groups (SHGs), federated institutions and create an ecosystem where the poor can work together to identify problems and design solutions.
