Digital India – to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy
- Digital India is a program envisaged by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) and was launched by Shri Narendra Modi on July 1, 2015. Digital India Week is being observed by Centre and States like Telangana, Meghalaya, Jharkhand from July 1 to July 7.
- Digital India is aimed at providing thrust towards e-Governance in the country and promote inclusive growth that covers electronic services, products, devices and job opportunities.
- Overall costs of Digital India are expected to be around Rs. 1.13 lakh crores with its impact cross cutting, ranging from broadband to all Panchayats, WiFi in universities, job creation, e-Governance and eServices.
