The SAGY scheme, also called Saanjhi, was launched by Prime Minister Modi on 11th October 2014. It assigned the responsibility of developing the social economic and political development of villages to Members of Parliament.
Under SAGY, the MP can select any Gram Panchayat, other than their own village or that of their spouse, with a population of 3000-5000 in the plains or 1000-3000 in the hilly areas.
692 Members of Parliament have adopted a Gram Panchayat which are at varied stages of development.
